The short answer
Stacking and folding doors are priced per project, not per square metre off a shelf. In Krugersdorp and across the West Rand, the price is driven by the width of the opening, the number of panels, the glass spec, and the colour finish. The honest way to get a real number is a site measure, but this guide explains what moves the price so you know what you are paying for.
What a stacking door actually is
A stacking door is an aluminium door system where the panels fold and slide to one side so you can open up the entire width of the opening, not just half of it like a standard slider. It is the door that connects the lounge to the patio and turns two spaces into one. If you want the full indoor-outdoor opening, this is the system, and you can see the configurations on our patio doors and aluminium doors pages.
Frameless stacking glass, where the panels are glass with minimal visible framing, is a different but related product. We cover that on the frameless glass page.
What moves the price
The width of the opening and the number of panels. This is the biggest factor. A 3-panel system across a standard patio costs far less than a 6-panel system spanning an entire entertainment wall. Each panel adds glass, hardware, and heavy-duty track.
The glass spec. Standard toughened safety glass is the baseline. Laminated glass for added security costs more. Double glazed insulated units, which cut noise and hold the temperature, cost more again but pay back in comfort. We explain the trade-offs on the double glazing page.
The colour and finish. White and the standard charcoal, bronze, and black are the most economical. A custom RAL powder-coat colour to match a specific scheme adds cost.
The structural opening. If the existing opening needs adjustment to take the new system, that adds labour. A straightforward replacement into a sound opening does not.
A realistic way to budget
Rather than quote a figure that will not match your home, the sensible approach is this:
- Measure the rough width and height of the opening yourself.
- Decide how much of it you want to open up (half, with a slider, or the full width, with a stacker).
- Send us those numbers and a photo on WhatsApp.
We will give you an early indication, then confirm it with a free on-site measure. Every quote is written, itemised, and free, so you see exactly what you are paying for before you commit.
Why measure on site
Patio openings in Krugersdorp homes are rarely perfectly square, especially in the older builds around Monument, Noordheuwel, and the CBD. A door manufactured to a guessed size ends up packed with sealant and never slides right. We measure on site so the system is built to your actual opening and glides properly from day one.
Is it worth it?
A stacking door is one of the upgrades buyers notice and remember. It changes how the whole living area feels and how the home shows. Combined with our 2-Year Installation Guarantee, it is a long-term improvement, not a short-term fix.
